Long Hallways Short Good-byes by Deborah Mabray Caudle
The Daddy holds his hand
As the child lays outstretched
The stretcher slowly rolling
Down that long hallway
The Mommy softly weeping
As the tears fall to the ground
It is time to correct a wrong
A goodbye much to short
And at the end of the wait
A child returns to awaken
A New Hope now emerges
To replace all uncertainty
The Father holds the Savior’s hand
As Jesus’ outstretched body is nailed
The crucifixion slowing coming forth
Down that long roadway
His mother is softly weeping
As the tears fall to the ground
It is time to correct a wrong
A goodbye much to short
And at the end of the wait
A new King returns to awaken
A new promise now emerges
A new eternity
